Bacchus France organizes since 1992 training periods for wine professionals: wholesellers, cellar men and restaurant owners (8%). These trainings take place in different wine-growing regions according to the years: Beaujolais, Bordeaux, Bourgogne, Champagne, Languedoc-Roussillon, Sud-Ouest, Rhône …
Bacchus France has different aims:
1 - Introduction to tasting and further training
2 - Marketing in order to increase the turnover and our clients’ benefits
3 - The knowledge of the wine-growing regions
4 - The understanding of the wine-making techniques and the wines growing
5 - A better knowledge of the combination of wine and food
6 - The discovery of excellent prices
1 - The training periods last 2 days
2 - A whole day is dedicated to each AOC
3 - The training takes place in the wine-growing regions with the most competent trainers for each appellation: they introduce the AOC, you taste wines and visit properties, have lunch and dinner with dynamic producers.
4 - Between 50 and 80 wines are tested every day.
5 - The training respects ethics. Quality, authenticity, conviviality, human relationships and empiric tasting are the objectives to be prioritized.
A typical day:
In the morning 20 to 40 wines are blind tasted: each participant has to comment and mark them. At the end of he tasting, prices per pallet (600 bottles) and prices for the public are given (anonymity is kept). The professionals have then to choose the best 4 wines according to the price and the quality. The 2 chateaux, which are the most appreciated, are visited in the afternoon.
In the afternoon:
Discovery of the vineyards and the technical equipment
Tasting of the various wines and vertical tasting
Questions to the owners and trainers about wine-making techniques, cultural methods, organic wines, biodynamic, the link between the grape variety and the soil, the growing in barrel, yeasting, clones, phytosanitary illnesses, blending, mono cultivar, combination of wines and foods, pruning, vintage and aromatic evolution, etc…
Lunches and dinners are organized by the vine growers of the AOC
